Hydroelectric plant with a maximum gross jump height of 60.68 m and a maximum turbine power of 2978 kW. A 1900 mm pipe lines water conduction with a motorized butterfly valve. Hydroelectric plant designed for a nominal flow rate of 6 m3/s. Horizontal axis Francis type turbine. The work includes the installation and assembly of oil hydraulic unit of the turbine control and the By-Pass valve of the plant, valve guard and pipe insulation, bridge crane and ventilation equipment.

Works for take apart and shutting down of tailings currently in combustion to a new location, returning the land to an acceptable standard with the establishment of a cloak of fertile land and subsequent reforestation, as well as the consolidation of the structure of mine galleries.

Studies of safety conditions in the work were conducted according to the General Regulation of Mine Safety Basic Standards, the Technical Instructions of Safety and the Internal Safety Provisions, as well as an analysis of flammable gases content in the tunnel area and of ventilation air speed.

The Espartal is a 2002 metres long tunnel with a two-way carriageway which is part of the Córdoba - Málaga high speed railway. Methane gas popped up at the construction stage after drilling a bore. Samples, tests and needed tasks were conducted to test its presence during the execution of two drillings ahead of tunnel works.
